Grey Goose Chip Shop

GREY GOOSE & OGILVY
THE GREY GOOSE CHIP SHOP

The year’s most fashionable food and drink pairing isn’t caviar with champagne or oysters with Chablis. It’s martinis and fries. As playful take on this perfect pairing, can you help us bring to life the Grey Goose Chip Shop, to showcase the creativity and versatility of the classic martini cocktail?

THE ASK

Creative Direction ◆ Design ◆ Production ◆ Event Management

Grey Goose, and Ogilvy PR, asked us to bring to life their Grey Goose Chip Shop concept. In the same way that salty, crunchy, and fatty fries are the perfect foil for the smooth, crisp, spirit-forward bite of an ice cold vodka martini cocktail, the chip shop was designed to perfectly balance the sophistication of French dining culture (Grey Goose’s natural habitat) with all the hallmarks and references to the classic British chippy.

Setup in the heart of Soho, the pop-up ran from 3rd to 5th December at 59 Greek Street. Opening daily from 4pm until midnight, the Grey Goose Chip Shop welcomed guests to approach and explore the martini cocktail from a different perspective. A very London partner to the Grey Goose Hôtel, which ran concurrently in Paris.

The Grey Goose Chip Shop menu was designed as a showcase of the creativity and the versatility of the classic cocktail, with both traditional serves and Chip Shop inspired twists (as well as surprising off-menu items and secret serves).

The cocktail menu, developed by Grey Goose Ambassador Lexa Ulijaszek, featured a classic Grey Goose martini cocktail, for those with a taste for the traditional; to a truffle-laced dirty martini with Perello olives; the Goose Gibson with its balsamic-infused onion; and the Tartar-tini, which recreated the tang of tartare sauce with lemon, dill and capers. And for those in need need a late-night lift, a complementary Espresso Martini rounded off the meal, while a tiny Bloody Mary “side sip” was a cheeky nod to chip-shop condiments.

As part of the Late Night Special guests could choose between a full-size martini of their choice or a Tiny Tini Flight, accompanied by a serving of fries. The fries themselves were designed as a fusion of classic French cooking, with the deeply satisfying and moorish chip shop chip.

From Frites Coq Au Vin, to Frites Croque Monsieur, and a Sel A La Truffe Frites (aka Truffle Fries), guests were invited to pair their martini cocktail to the perfect fries (with the help of our French wait staff). And for those in the mood for a chip shop classic, portions of Frites Nues (naked fries) were served to be topped with classic chip shop condiments, such as ketchup, curry, and tartare sauces.

“The martini cocktail isn’t just having a moment — it is the moment!”
